Remove tracked changes before you send a Word document
A Word document with tracked changes carries every deletion you made, who made it, and when — even when the markup is hidden on screen. Drop a .docx here and download a cleaned copy with the changes genuinely accepted and the revision history gone. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded.
This matters most in the documents people send outside: a contract redlined through three rounds, a quote edited down from a higher number, a report with a paragraph someone thought better of. "Show markup: off" hides all of that from you, not from the recipient.
Works today, in your browser. Photos open in the editor and Word documents are checked for hidden data; either way the file is read on your device and never uploaded.
What tracked changes actually keep
Each tracked edit stores the text before and after, the editor’s name from their Word settings, and a timestamp. Deleted text is not deleted — it is kept and marked as deleted, which is how Word can show it struck through. Anyone who receives the file can turn the markup back on.
Why "accept all changes" is not the whole job
Accepting changes resolves the edits, and leaves everything else a document carries: the author and last-modified-by names, comments, and sometimes earlier text in fields you would not think to inspect. Word’s own Document Inspector covers much of this, but only in the desktop application.
Cleaning here does both halves in one pass: changes accepted for real — the markup and the deleted text rewritten out of the file, not hidden — and the identity fields, comments and revision metadata removed with them.
What the cleaned copy looks like
The document text is the final text, exactly as it reads with all changes accepted. Formatting, styles and layout are kept. What is gone is the history: who edited, what they deleted, what they wrote first.

Questions
The text reads as if every change had been accepted — which is what a recipient was meant to see. Styles and formatting are kept.
Yes. Comments, tracked changes, author and last-modified-by names and other revision metadata all go. The report lists exactly what was removed.
No. The file is parsed in your browser, and the cleaned copy is produced there too.
